Most disposables are made with materials that have been whitened with chlorine. But these whiter materials come with unpleasant consequences. Bleaching with chlorine creates dangerous toxins such as dioxin, furans and other organochlorines. Once loose in the environment, these chemicals accumulate in both people and animals. Hundreds of studies have shown a direct link between dioxin exposure and cancer, birth defects and environmental and reproductive disorders.
The chlorine free materials and absorbent polymers used in Seventh Generation Eco-Disposables help keep your baby dry in between changes and through the night. In addition to being effective at keeping baby dry and reducing the risk of nappy rash, studies show that our absorbent polymer is non-toxic and non-irritating to baby’s sensitive skin.
The U.S. EPA estimates that the maximum safe level of lifetime dioxin exposure is just 0.003 picograms per pound of body weight per day. This exposure is equivalent to just ten drops of water in all the Great Lakes! The current level of dioxin pollution in our world creates an unacceptable cancer risk for almost every man, woman, and child on earth. In fact, modern body tissue carries 50 times more dioxin than that of ancient body tissue. Your choice of our chlorine free diapers helps reduce the amount of dioxin polluting our air, water and soil, and helps make the world a safer, healthier place for your family and generations to come.
Seventh Generation discloses all ingredients
Made of chlorine free wood pulp, poly backing, and a soft poly outer cover. Absorbency is enhanced through the use of SAP, super absorbent polymer (gel).
WHAT ABOUT THE GEL?
We use absorbent polymer (gel) in our diapers because it is the best method we have found for keeping babies dry and reducing diaper rash. Our exhaustive research on this gel has shown that it is non-toxic and safe for babies while helping keep them dry and comfortable. Independent scientific research on this chemically inert gel, sodium polyacrylate, has shown that it is non-toxic, not carcinogenic, and non-irritating to the skin.
ECF tissue
One part of the diaper, a thin sheet of tissue, is bleached using chlorine dioxide (element chlorine free). We are actively working to find an alternative material that is totally chlorine free.
Customer Feedback
"This is the first disposable nappy I have been able to use on my child that has a gel inside and does not give my child a rash. ALL other disposables give my child a rash raising concerns about the effects of chemical gels in them. Not these ones. Im still a cloth user 95% of the time, but when i need a disposable occasionally, these are great. Thank You." Melanie, Byron Bay. Australia.
This is the first gel based, all in one disposable nappy that passed the test of being non-irritable, not just eco-friendly. Parts of the nappy are biodegradable but this requires you to break the nappy apart when you are disposing of it.
We know you will be happy with this nappy for the above environmental reasons and practical reasons for your disposable nappy needs.
We are happy to answer any more questions you have should the above information not be sufficient.
Thank You!
HELPING YOUR CUSTOMERS CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE
Our experience shows that when choosing the right size nappy for your baby, lend toward the larger size if your baby's weight is at the upper end of the size range. For Example: If your baby is 5.5kg we suggest size 2 nappy. Even though Size 1 says it will fit 3.5 - 6.5 kg
This suggestion is based on customer feedback about a better fit and performance of the nappy.
